Garapa is a Brazilian term for raw sugar cane juice. Here in Uberlandia and in some Southern Brazilian states garapa is known as "caldo de cana". Also known as "guarapo", "guarapo de caña" or "jugo de guarapo" in various dialects of Spanish. It is very popular in other tropical countries of Latin America (special in Cuba)as well.
Last night we had for the first time this high glycogen drink. And it was sweet, yes very sweet but also nice and cold. Gostoso! So next time when there is a market, Thursday, we'll go again and grap a pastel as well.....
