The Vigário Geral massacre (Portuguese: chacina de Vigário Geral ) happened on August 29, now 20 years ago at the Vigário Geral favela in Rio de Janeiro 1993. It is still in trial as of 2012.
Supposedly, a death squad composed by policeman retaliated the killings of 4 officers by drug traffickers at the favela. The attack resulted in 21 innocent people dead, including a 15-year old girl. (wikipedia)
