A delegation from The Netherlands, comprising representatives of 11 higher education institutions, visited Qatar University.
The visitors and QU officials discussed topics such as sharing knowledge and expertise, student exchanges, traineeships, and collaboration on research projects and joint programmes.
QU president Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad met the delegation along with vice president and chief academic officer Sheikha Jabor al-Thani, vice president for research Hassan al-Derham and College of Engineering dean Mazen Hasna and exchanged ideas on future co-operation.
“This is an important development for us. We are keen to participate in such a partnership in which we can tap into the academic excellence which characterises education in The Netherlands,” Prof al-Misnad said.
The visit was organised by The Netherlands Organisation for International Co-operation in Higher Education (Nuffic) to promote collaboration activities with national universities and colleges in the Gulf region.
Nuffic’s policy officer Nico Evers said the intention is to familiarise the Gulf region with the Dutch higher education sector and vice versa in order to facilitate possibilities for international co-operation, which would be beneficial to Qatar University and the institutions in the delegation.
The institutions represented in the Dutch delegation included University of Groningen/University Medical Center; University of Maastricht; Wageningen University of Life Sciences; Center for Higher Education Policy Studies at University of Twente; Maastricht School of Management; Rotterdam Business School – Hogeschool Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences; The Hague University of Applied Science; Hogeschool Utrecht University of Applied Sciences; Hanze Hogeschool University of Applied Sciences; Amsterdam Institute of Finance; and University of Twente.
