 A national day is a day on which celebrations mark the nationhood of a nation or state. It may be the date of independence, of becoming a republic, of becoming a federation, or a significant date for a patron saint or a ruler. The national day is often a public holiday. Saudi National Day is celebrated annually on September 23 to commemorate the renaming of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932 following a royal decree from King Abdulaziz.

deze keer is het KSA national day op donderdag. Dat was voor velen aanleiding om ook woensdag vrij te plannen om zodoende een lang weekend te hebben: woe-do-vrij-zat. Voor een aantal collega's dekens om met weinig vakantiedagen opnemen langer vrij te plannen omdat de woensdag voor hen al was uitgeroosterd: vrij-zat-ma-di-woe-do-vrij. Een beperkt aantal plakt het aan de achterkant: woe-do-vrij-zat-zon-ma-di-woe-do-vrij-zat.
