press release Aspire:

Four times UEFA Champions League winner and Dutch International Clarence Seedorf took time out of his close season activities to visit ASPIRE during a two day trip to Doha this week.

The AC Milan player, in Doha for the first time, visited the Academy to learn more about talent identification, development and the use of the sport sciences in the creation of the next generation of elite athletes from Qatar.

The tour of ASPIRE not only included the sporting arenas, all held below the largest sports dome in the world, but also the various scientific laboratories used by the Academy to further develop the talents of tomorrow.

During the visit Seedorf was impressed with the Academy’s facilities and philosophy, not least in the school, with the latest technologies employed in the classrooms to ensure the student athletes have the best possible environment in which to hone their skills.

He said: “ASPIRE is a very special place indeed and I really want to see every aspect of the Academy before I leave.

“It’s an amazing environment to teach young athletes and having the facilities for all sports, not just for football, is really impressive.

”“I would very much like to return to ASPIRE in the future, as I see great possibilities here and I wish them all the success in the world”.

The midfield marvel also dedicated a special gift for the ASPIRE students with the words: “The power of sport is the power of education and that together is the future and our hope”.
