2013 - 2014

The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup will be held in Brazil in 2013, as a prelude to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is expected to be held from 15 to 30 June 2013. Brazil are the defending champions. As the competition partially overlaps with the fourth round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification in Asian zone, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) asked FIFA to consider a change of date. However, the AFC decided that the match day will be adjusted only for Japan, the representative of AFC for the Confederations Cup. So Japan will be there, and Spain as worldcup winner, Italy will replace Spain as the Eruo-cup winner, Mexico, Uruguat and Tahiti are the other participants. As said before this is a prelude to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and is casting shadows ahead..... Maracana is not ready yet but must be end of this year....... The Netherlands look safe for qualifying for WC 2014 but Qatar’s hopes of qualifying is in a shambles after they lost their home match to Uzbekistan 1-0 at the Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Stadium yesterday. The solitary goal that provided Uzkek their first win in group ‘A’ and three crucial points came through Sanjar Tursunov. The visitors thus have brightened their prospects of a World Cup berth after starting this match from the bottom of the group. They now five points from three matches, while Qatar and Lebanon have four points each. Iran and South Korea are now tied atop Group ‘A’ with seven points apiece. Captain Javad Nekonam’s 76th-minute goal gave 10-man Iran a stunning 1-0 win over South Korea in Tehran yesterday. Let's see what is the situation in January 2013 and then in June again. Maybe at that time we know how 2014 will be.
