 Tot gisteren weinig vrouwen achter de drums live aan het werk gezien.

Het begon met de Country Westerns met een dame achter de drum kit. Strak en weinig poespas.

Toen bij Tyler Ramsey als power trio met op de drums weer een vrouw.

Toppunt was echter bij Ion & Wine. een vrouw, met blote voeten, die naast drums ook nog allerlei andere ritme instrumenten bespeelde. Fascinerend was het razendsnel wisselen van drumstokken en van grip. 

Opvallend is dat ik geen enkele info snel kon vinden over deze drie drummers.

Na wat zoeken toch de beste van allemaal gevonden: Beth Goodfellow

Beth Goodfellow is a Los Angeles-based artist specializing in drums and percussion. She is known for her work touring and recording with Iron & Wine since 2017, contributing drums and percussion on their most recent album Light Verse (2024), as well as appearing in their 2023 concert film and double LP Who Can See Forever. Beth also tours and records with experimental artist and composer Julia Holter, contributing drums and percussion to Something In The Room She Moves (2024). Beth’s recording credits also include boygenius (EP, 2018), Gaby Moreno (Alegoria, 2022), and Calexico (Seasonal Shift, 2020 and El Mirador, 2022). Beth's current focus as a solo artist is her singer-songwriter approach to writing for marimba and voice. By building loops of marimba counterpoint she creates a uniquely meditative backdrop for her lyrics and vocals. Her most recent solo recording Fire On The Ridge (2023) is a four song EP for marimba and vocal.
