KHATTOU bint al-Boukhary, wife of the President of Mauritania, yesterday visited Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence as part of her visit to Qatar on the sidelines of the Education For All Mid-Term Review Conference for the Arab Region which kicked off here earlier yesterday.
The Mauritanian President’s wife was informed about the vision and objectives of Aspire to discover the best young sporting talent in the region, and transform them into world champions. This will in turn generate a sports culture in Qatar, where each generation of athletes inspires the next, the Aspire director general Dr Thomas Flock told her.
Our mission is to establish Aspire as an Elite Sports Institute developing exceptional athletes, Thomas Flock told the guest.
The academy also integrates this training with an intensive, comprehensive intellectual education, giving them all the support they need to succeed.
She then toured Aspire’s numerous facilities: gymnasiums, pools, stadiums and other sports arenas.
She also toured Doha’s Souq Waqif.–QNA
