segundo dia Troféu Brasil Caixa de Atletismo 2015

Heptathlon medal winners walking back after ceremony.

The second day Sao Bernardo had a bit of a cold start. Powerade athlete Kerinde Hilario de Souza Brites da Silva ran behind the facts in the first event of the decathlon to record a 11.08seconds. In the long jump he managed his best series of the season so far and settled for 6.99m. Close to a personal best and he repeated this in the shot 12.12m. A season best in the high- jump with only four misses in total with three of them on 1.95 pb height brought him 1.92 in the books. The fifth event was a bit off in this. Not satisfied at all, whilst running in lane 8 and into a cold gusty wind, Kerinde scored 50.79 seconds. The only evenet in which he much lost points again his virtual score. Score on day one 3778 against 3833 last year in the same competion (only 7 months ago!).
Dandadeua Asteria de Souza Brites da Silva almost repeated her time she ran in the semi final 54"63 and now 54"65 good for 6th place in a strong field.
Karen Maria Cerqueira Lopes ended up in fifth place in the heptathlon. That was giving the score of the top girls as high as she good get but the point score 5012 could have been much higher. She dropped about 250 points after a disappointing 800 meters. "I felt really determined to run a PB but cramped up in the first lap and was not able to respond when one of the girls passed me who is not a good runner either", she explained. The second day started with long jump. There Karen was a bit  unlucky when she fell bcd in the long jump in her second attempt losing about 20 centimeters on het recorded mark 5.38m. A lifte time best in the javelin with 41.59m made a score of 5300 points possible. But then the 800 was still to come.
"This year the combined eventers are showing better results in all events. Still there is a lot of room for improvement. Kerinde can break 7000 and Karen 5300 without personal best in one of the events. It comes down to be more consistent and close to that personal best", explained Gerard Lenting currently the  Powerade head coach and former Brazilian national coach for the combined events. "Danda is a girl for the long hurdles and she proved to be in good shape to bring it on this weekend with her final in the 400 meters. This year she will run a 58 second lap with hurdles for sure," Lenting added.
