Frist day NC in Sao Bernardo do Campo under a cloudy sky but with shining results for Powerade team.

On the first day the heptathlon went underway with the 100m hurdles. Karen Maria Cerqueira Lopes for Powerade team ran her second best hurdle race ever in a heptathlon: 14"34. She proved to be in good shape with also a very good high jump scoring 1m64cm which she bettered only two times before in 2012. Underway to a personal best score in the first day she managed a decent 11m39cm i the shot to finish the day with25.18sec over de 200 meters. "This was my worst race this year over a 200", she said afterwards ,"so I know there is more in store. tomorrow is another day and I need to keep improving to get closer to the medal positions". She is fifth now with 3205 points, Surprise leader is Giovana Cavaleti with 3.485 points, slightly ahead of the favorites Chefer 3.484 and de Souza 3.479.
In the afternoon Dandadeua Asteria de Souza Brites da Silva qualified easy for the 400 meter finals on Friday. "I could not find the right rhythm on the back straight running into a cold headwind,but I am satisfied to have qualified for the finals.
Gabriel Oliveira Constantino just missed out to qualify for the 100 meter dash. "My start was sluggish and I could not catch up with the lead". Head coach Gerard Lenting was pleased with the results:"Gabriel ran again under his personal best from last year, Danda proved she has the stamina to finish fast and Karen was really all round and close to all heptathlon best performances. So overall a good day for Powerade team" the Dutchman concluded.

Rosangela Santos (EC Pinheiros) won the women 100m  final in 11.08 (+0.2)  better than her semi final time: 11.14sec. And she is the second women qualified for 2016 OG, the other one is  Anna Claudia Lemos who ran in April in Walnut (USA) a very fast 11"01 (+1.4).
Vitor Hugo dos Santos (Brasil Foods/ILF), is just 19 years old and showed he is the man to beat in the sprints. He won the 100m meter final in  10.22 seconds (0.1 not only a life time best but also better than his semi 10"26 which was already a south american and Brazilian under twenty record. com 10.29 (1.9).  He held the Brazilian record himself but the south american record stood since 2007 in the name of  Alonso Edwards (PAN) with 10.28seconds.

Thirty two year old Wagner Jose Alberto Carvalho Domingos won the title in the hammer throw competion for the 14th time in his career. His 73.66m  was not good enough yet to qualify for the world later this year in China, the standard is set at 76 meters.
