Susie O'Neill arriveert met Queens Baton in het stadion bij de opening van de CWG18.

Susie O'Neill (Mackay, 2 augustus 1973) is een voormalig Australisch zwemster.
Zij verbeterde in de aanloop naar de Olympische Spelen in haar vaderland Australië het negentien jaar oude wereldrecord op de 200 meter vlinderslag van de vermaarde Mary T. Meagher uit de Verenigde Staten.
Met 35 nationale titels en acht olympische medailles is O'Neill een van de meest succesvolle zwemmers uit de Australische sportgeschiedenis: in 1996 en 1998 werd ze in eigen land uitgeroepen tot Sportvrouw van het Jaar. 

Na de Spelen van Sydney beëindigde de pupil van trainer Scott Volkers haar imposante carrière en trad de in Brisbane woonachtige O'Neill toe tot de atletencommissie van het Internationaal Olympisch Comité.

The Queen's Baton Relay, is a relay around the world held prior to the beginning of the Commonwealth Games. The Baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, currently Queen Elizabeth II. The Relay traditionally begins at Buckingham Palace in London as a part of the city's Commonwealth Day festivities. The Queen entrusts the baton to the first relay runner. At the Opening Ceremony of the Games, the final relay runner hands the baton back to the Queen or her representative, who reads the message aloud to officially open the Games.
