In the women’s Qatar Classic, world number two Vanessa Atkinson picked up her second major trophy in Qatar when she beat surprise finalist sixth seed Vicky Botwright of England in straight sets at the Khalifa Squash Complex.
In the women’s final, Atkinson’s sublime form ensured the Dutch picked up her second career trophy in Doha. Atkinson, who won the Qatar Airways Open trophy in 2004, yesterday beat Botwright 9-7, 9-4, 9-2. Botwright beat world number one Rachael Grinham of Australia in the quarter-finals and world number three Nicol David of Malaysia in the semi-finals before signing in for the final.
Atkinson got richer by $15,000 while Botwright picked up a reward of $10,000 for her efforts in Doha.
