First Founding day
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has declared today, February 22, 2022 as the new founding day and has dedicated it as a national holiday. The announcement was made by a royal decree issued by Saudi King Shah Salman. The day Imam Muhammad bin Saud established ‘Saudi Arabia’ as an independent citizen state in the region of Ad Diriyah in the Arabian Peninsula in 1727. Earlier, this area was called the Arabian Peninsula or the Holy Hijaz.
۔ On February 22, 1727, Ibn Saud founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is one of the oldest kingdoms in the world. Thus, Saudi Arabia is celebrating three centuries of history. Dr. Muhammad Gharawi, director of the Sama Center and a Saudi journalist, says that the formation of a new state is not an easy task. Celebrating such an occasion helps to enhance the national identity, even though it started with Al-Dariyah. To this day, it is considered the best example of Saudi determination and pride. From that day on, the royal rule of the Saudi dynasty was established in the land of Hijaz.
The first Saudi state was established by Imam Muhammed bin Saud in 1727 in the city of Diriyah, to the northwest of Riyadh. The historic capital was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 and has been revitalized with a series of restoration projects giving visitors a glimpse of the old palaces and mosques.
Imam Muhammed bin Saud was born in 1679 in Diriyah. Around 200 years later, his descendant King Abdulaziz unified the kingdom of Najd, centered around Diriyah, and the eastern kingdom of Hejaz, to form the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.This unification was made into a holiday by King Abdullah in 2005 and is now recognized as Saudi National Day on September 23.
