Doha: The new Saudi Ambassador to Qatar presented his credentials to the ministry of foreign affairs ending a six-year impasse in bilateral relations, while Saudi Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud described the ties between the two countries as "brotherly".

In a brief statement on Sunday, Qatar News Agency announced that "Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud received this morning copies of the credentials of Ahmad Bin Ali Al Qah'tani, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Qatar".
