SIX vehicles stranded in several feet of sea water at the Wakrah beach during a sudden surge of high tide were salvaged by the rescue team from the Civil Defence Department, according to reports published in the local Arabic press.
The vehicles, belonging to Qatari nationals and expatriates, had been parked on the beach during low tide. Their owners, who had gone there with their families for an outing on Thursday evening, were caught unawares by the high tide which, whipped up by strong winds, soon engulfed their vehicles.
They tried in vain to pull the vehicles away from the gushing tide, and could only watch helplessly as their vehicles drifted away.
The Civil Defence Department rescue team, which reached the spot promptly, swung into action immediately and brought all the six vehicles to the shore
