Tadmur Culture and Arts Festival - 2008
TADMUR, Syria: HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attended a Qatari and Syrian Camel race yesterday afternoon here as part of Tadmur Culture and Arts Festival - 2008.
HH the Emir and the Syrian president inaugurated the main platform of the race course here. They later distributed awards to winners.
HH the Emir and the Syrian president attended yesterday evening a ballet performance presented by the Hems Ballet Group at the Tadmur Hotel. The group presented a number of portraits depicting Syrian folklore.
The Emir and President Assad also visited the Tadmur Heritage Cultural Tent where they were briefed on the activities of the Tent which include the Syrian-Qatari Heritage Market, shows for Syrian arts and brands, the Qatari Book Exhibition in addition to bedouin songs. Later, the two leaders attended the Qatari Night staged by Qatari poets and singers at the Romanian Theatre.
Earlier on his arrival, on a private visit to Syria, the Emir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed at Tadmur Airport by President Assad.
The Qatari delegation included Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, HH the Heir Apparent’s Private Secretary HE Hamad bin Khalifa al-Attiyah, HE Sheikh Jo’aan bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Emir’s Secretary for Follow-up Affairs HE Saad Mohamed al-Rumeihi. – QNA
