blij met volvo
gisteravond mijn eerste aanrijding!
Driving licence tests made simpler

DOHA: Driving tests in Qatar have been made simpler with the removal of ‘S’ test held in the driving compound, it is learnt.
Earlier, driving school students were required to pass three inside tests, namely L, S and Box Parking, which will qualify them for the final road test.
The ‘L’ test has also been simplified as students, while taking the test, now need not drive the car in reverse gear but instead can drive straight.
The changes came to effect from December 1, according to driving school sources. Officials from the Traffic and Patrol Department could not be contacted for comments on whether these tests, which several incumbent motorists failed, were scrapped for good or would be replaced with other tests. Those applying for driving licences usually found the 'S' test and the 'L' test very tough and several had to repeat their training and appear for tests repeatedly before being issued a driving licence. This caused most incumbents to spend large sums of money on learning driving and getting the licence.
Driving school sources said these tests might have been scrapped and simplified as most motorists usually never used the 'S' and 'L' techniques to park their cars.
Hence, despite learning the method, people tend to forget it over a period of time.
Some driving schools charged as high as QR500 for a week's training only on 'S' and "L" parking from those who failed the tests, sending the overall cost of learning to drive, very high.
