Holy month of Ramadan starts
THE Moon Sighting Committee of Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced yesterday evening that today (Sunday) is the last day of the month of Sha’aban. So tomorrow (Monday) will the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen also announced that Ramadan would start tomorrow.
Sunni religious authorities in both Iraq and Lebanon announced that the new crescent was not sighted and that Ramadan would fall tomorrow.
Syria and Egypt also announced that tomorrow would be the first day of Ramadan.
Libya is so far the only Middle Eastern country to announce the start of Ramadan today.
Ramadan would start from tomorrow for most Asian countries too.
