Doha: The Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Nasser bin Mohamed bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani yesterday issued circular No. 20 of 2009 on the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Accordingly the Eid holidays will be as follows: For ministries and other government bodies, public authorities and corporations the Eid holidays will begin on Thursday 27 Ramadan 1430AH, which corresponds to September 17. Employees are to resume work on September 27.

For the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), banks and institutions falling under the QCB’s supervision, Qatar Financial Markets Authority, Qatar Securities Company, three days will be declared as holidays which will be set by the QCB Governor

Doha: The first day of Eid Al Fitr will fall on September 20, according to Sheikh Salman bin Jabor Al Thani, head of the astronomy department at the Qatari Scientific Club. Sheikh Jabor yesterday said that the Shawwal crescent will be born at 9.44pm on September 18 corresponding to Ramadan 28 and therefore it can not be seen, and can be investigated on the following day, where the age of the crescent that day will be 19 hours and 49 minutes which can be seen with difficulty.

Therefore September 20 will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr, Sheikh Jabor added
