Silver for Bruna Jéssica Oliveira Farias
First medal Powerade team on day one of the South american Championships in athletics for under 23 years old in Montevideo (Uruguay).
A final in cold weather and into head wind. Not the best scenario for a championship. But Powerade athlete Bruna Jéssica Oliveira Farias showed good form and took second place.
In the morning semi finals the weather was crispy with sunshine and Bruna cruised into the final with 11"58. The afternoon session was a different one. A cold gusty wind over the track and a big delay before the start was not in favor for the sprint girls. Bruna did not manage to repeat the good start she normally has but was alongside with the Venezuelan girl on her shoulder. It was a close finish but Bruna got pipped on the line and lost gold by just 0.02 of a second.
