Chinese Ma Lin won the Men’s Singles title at the Liebherr Qatar Open in Doha on Saturday 17th February 2007.
He won 11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7.
Wang Liqin and Ma Lin had met twenty-five times in World ranking events prior to their meeting in the Men’s Singles final in Doha, the former having the slight advantage.
Wang Liqin had won on fourteen occasions but perhaps more significantly he had won on the last two occasions that the players had encountered each other in Doha.
He had beaten Ma Lin in the Men’s Singles final at the Liebherr Qatar Open in both 2005 and 2006. In 2007 that sequence came to an end, Ma Lin had his revenge.
