The first IAAF Super Grand Prix status meeting of this year takes place in Doha, Qatar,

There are almost twenty events that will be contested at the Qatar Sports Club. Around sunset the kick off will be the woman hammerthrow. The men’s throws highlight the infield competitions with World and Olympic title holder in the Discus, Virgilijus Alekna (LTU), and Olympic Javelin Throw champion Andreas Thorkildsen (NOR) competing. The Norwegian won last year gold medal by surprising the field including Makarov.

Helsinki 2005 100m winner Lauryn Williams (USA) is set to take on compatriot Allyson Felix (USA) in the women's dash. In the mens race it will be between the US compatriots : Shawn Crawford and Dwight Philips.

Unlike her Helsinki gold medal counterpart in the men’s Long Jump, Tianna Madison (USA), the reigning women’s World Long Jump champion will contest her gold medal winning event in Doha.

No Dutch athletes in the entry list. But Tia Hellebaut will keep the Benelux alive in the heat of Qatar.
