harde discussie met Ban Ki-moon

DOHA: Over 30 students in Qatar got the rare privilege of interacting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon yesterday. The 20-minute long face-to-face with the world’s top leader turned out to be a stage for the young students to share their anguish and concerns about the ongoing conflicts in the Arab region and the Middle East.

At the interactive session, hosted by Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, Ban faced a volley of questions from the students belonging to the age group of 11-15. Abdulla Al Schackarachi, a VIII Grade student from Qatar Academy set the ball rolling by sharing his worries over the war and terror in his native country, Iraq.

“Why UN is unable to bring in permanent peace in the Middle East?” “Why Lebanon and Palestine are still burning?”, asked the students as Ban gave them answers and advocated the lessons of peace to the young minds.
