Qatar Sport Museum will be inaugurated before January 2011, as announced during a contract signing ceremony at QOC headquarters on Monday.


HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani - QOC Secretary General singed the Consultation Service contract alongside Hilal Al Kuwari - Administrative Manager of Aspire Academy and Abdullah Al Najar - Executive President of Qatar Museum Authority (QMA), Sr. Ferran Ferrer Viana – Corporative Development Director of Barcelona De Services Municipals, SA.
Other attendees include, HE Sr. Rafael Matos De Careaga – Ambassador of Spain in Qatar, Sr. Ignasi Cardelus I Fontdevila – Deputy Mayor the International Relationship, Ajuntament De Barcelona and other Spain company officials.
HE Sheikh Saoud ensured that the project plan of world's biggest sports museum was finalised one year in advance, under the supervision of Sr. Joan Sibina I Tomas, Architect – General Manager of Joan Sibina Arquitectes Associats.
QOC Secretary General said, "The museum will be built in an 8,000 sqm area and will aim at displaying Qatar history and heritage.


"It will include number of sections including local, GCC, continental, international, and Olympic, also a section to be allocated for the competitions that holds the name of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of State of Qatar and another section to be allocated for Qatar's achievements in different sport in addition to educational section to benefit schools students.
Sr. Ferran Ferrer Viana – Corporative Development Director of Barcelona De Service Municipal, SA said, "Joan Antonio Samaranch, Ex IOC President handled Qatar’s idea of Sport Museum in Doha conveyed to him by Qatari officials during his visit to Doha during 15th Asian Games, Doha 2006.
