NASSER bin Khalifa al-Attiyah and Dahlan al-Hamad have been replaced as heads of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation (QMMF) and Qatar Athletics Federation respectively among several high profile changes announced yesterday by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who is also the chairman of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).
The new chiefs will be in charge until 2012.
Al-Attiyah has been replaced by Sheikh Khalid bin Ali al-Thani, while Abdul Rahman al-Shathri takes over as the new president of the Qatar Athletics Federation from al-Hamad, who has been in charge for almost a decade.
Al-Shathri headed the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) as well as the Qatar Gymnastics Federation until now.
Nasser Ghanem al-Kholeifi will be the new QTF chief while Ali al-Hitmi will lead the Qatar Gymnastics Federation.
The heads of several other federations, however, will continue in their existing jobs.
