vera zvonareva heeft ook glamour!


gisteren naar de halve finales van het WTA-kampioenschap.
daar bleek maar weer eens dat het seizoen voor de vrouwen lang is.
eerst won Vera Zvonareva, zij is de vervangster van Maria Sharapova.
later won Venus Williams, zij plaatste zich als laatste (en voor een plek die eigenlijk voor Henin was gereserveerd)
eerder waren Ivanovic en S. Williams geblesseeerd afgehaakt hier bij dit tournooitje.

de dames zijn moe. zoveel is wel duidelijk. dus de gedroomde finale tussen de oympisch kampioen en de nummer 1 van de lijst zit er niet in.
de twee verrassende deelnames wel.

Ana Ivanovic has claimed the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ACES Award for the first time in her career by virtue of an impressive push of off-court promotional activities at the end of the season-long ACES Race.
The award is given to the player who consistently goes above and beyond to promote the sport of women’s tennis to fans, media, in the community and beyond.
“I’m very happy to win this fun competition,” Ivanovic said. “Being a professional tennis player is about a lot more than just hitting tennis balls and winning matches.

Both Venus and Vera will play for their first Sony Ericsson Championships title, and for a record winner's cheque, of US$ 1,340,000. The runner-up will take home US$ 715,000.

Sunday will also feature the doubles final, starting at 3pm, between world's number 1, Cara Black and Liezel Huber, who beat French Open Champions, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virgina Ruano Pascual, 6/1 6/3, and Kveta Peschke and Rennae Stubbs, who defeated number 2 seeds, Katerina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama, 6/3 2/6 10/4.
