1.• Qatar Airways yesterday said it had cancelled its flight to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, following unrest in the country after an attack by Darfur rebels. Consequently, the airport has been shut down. "We do not have any aircraft stranded there and we expect to put up passengers in hotels," an airline official said. The airline operates daily flights to Khartoum departing Doha at 1 pm. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways is still not flying to troubled Beirut's Rafik Al Hariri International Airport. Yesterday's flights were cancelled as are today's. The airline operates double dailies to Beirut. Qatar Airways is looking at the situation on both fronts on a day-to-day basis before deciding on resuming operations to both destinations.
Qatar's relief aid for the victims of the Myanmar cyclone, Nargis, arrived in Rangon airport yesterday and was received by the Chairman of the Relief and Rescue Committee in Myanmar.

The Qatari Search and Rescue Team at the Internal Security Force known as Lakhwiya completed the shipment of the Qatari assistance totalling 45 tonnes of medicines, serums, sterilizing items, clothes, coverings, tents, necessary living requirements, first aid bags and milk aboard planes which left Doha international airport earlier on Friday night.

QATAR Airways has cancelled its morning flight to Beirut today, an official spokesman yesterday said.
“The 8.10am flight will not be operated tomorrow. A final decision on the 4.15pm flight will be taken depending on the situation in Beirut,” he said. Qatar Airways flies twice daily to the Lebanese capital.
