het is iedere keer weer afwachten wanneer de islamitische feestdagen zijn.
voor ons als westerlingen die willen plannen lastig
maar voor de gelovigen hier prima
blijkt ook weer uit dit onderzoekje

zelf heb ik maar even naar wat meer houvast gezocht om wat dingen in de agenda vast te kunnen leggen..............

DOHA • Ninety-nine percent of Muslim Arabs in Qatar are fasting during Ramadan while 96 percent are observing the fast in the Arab world, according to a survey carried out by the Dubai-based Maktoob Research.

Seventy-four percent of those in surveyed in Qatar said they would have Iftar with their family at home, Iftar with family at their place (32 percent) and Iftar with friends at home (30 percent). Sixty-two percent felt moon sighting should be the criterion to determine the start of Ramadan, scholars' declaration (51 percent) and astronomical calculation (26 percent).

Qatar Telecom (Qtel), which on the occasion of Ramadan introduced religious content on its mobile phone services, will be pleased to know 87 percent in Qatar would like to receive recommended prayers (Dua's) on their phones, 70 percent the Hadith and 59 percent the Holy Quran. Eighty-nine percent of 6,182 people surveyed by Maktoob Reseach in the Arab world view the holy month as a yearly lesson in self-restraint and discipline and 71 percent believe it allows them to feel a sense of solidarity and brotherhood with fellow Muslims. The survey covered Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco and Egypt.
