alles moet nieuw

All major hypermarkets and outlets witnessed brisk sales right from the morning until closing time. Traffic was also heavy, with severe congestion at main shopping areas.
“We have seen at least double our normal business this Ramadan season and today it has been more than ever,” a salesman told Gulf Times yesterday.
Ever since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the sales of food items shot up, given the increased population in the country and the special preparations that comprises the menu.
Items like fresh chicken flew off the shelves within no time yesterday as people were stocking up for the festivities.
“Considering that the first day of Eid could fall either on Tuesday or Wednesday, I thought of finishing my shopping today,” an expatriate said as he was rushing off with a trolley laden with food items.
Because of an unprecedented rush at the cash counters of a major hypermarket an expatriate couple said they had to abandon a trolley load of food stuff and come away.
“It would have taken us at least an hour to clear the cash counter given the long queue and the time taken to process each customer’s purchase by the cashiers,” they maintained.
The rush at major outlets selling readymade garments also reached its peak yesterday. “See, I have just spent QR1,300 to buy new dresses for my family, this is something I cannot do without,” an expatriate said.
The shopping centres of Doha would be witnessing even heavier rush today as Eid al-Fitr draws nearer
