het einde van de ramadan nadert, de maan is bijna in zijn geheel weer donker, en het is druk op straat 's avonds. direct na het breken van de vasten, zondsondergang, is het nog rustig maar na het na het laatste gebed: isha wordt het steeds drukker.
dat is ook de tijd dat de winkels open gaan en de laatste dagen, zeker omdat het ook weekend was, leverde dat lange rijen op. lange rijen auto's op straat richting de winkelcentra en de markten maar ook binnen lange rijen voor de kassa's bij de winkels waar zoetwaren te koop zijn en de vele winkels met koopjes. Het is dan ook niet ongewoon dat er om middernacht gigantische files zijn rond het centrum.

Fajr 4.06am, Shorooq (sunrise) 5.23am, Zuhr (noon) 11.26am, Asr (afternoon) 2.53pm, Maghreb (sunset) 5.32pm, Isha (night) 7.02pm.

Traffic jams have become the norm in the city over the past few days. Serpentine queues of vehicles moving bumper-to-bumper on the busy streets, some of them under repairs, have once again proved the vulnerability of Doha's roads.

The souqs and shopping centres are bustling with visitors ahead of Eid Al Fitr, adding to the traffic snarls across the city. With people on an Eid shopping spree, the situation could go from bad to worse over the next two days.

Traffic flow towards the main souq area that covers Souq Waqif was at a standstill until late evening during the weekend as families set out for their final preparations for Eid Al Fitr. The renovated Souq Waqif has been a beehive of activity during Ramadan.
