Abu Dhabi • Eid ul Fitr, the festival marking the end of Ramadan will fall on October 1 this year in most Islamic countries, the Emirates Astronomical Society (EAS) and Islamic Crescent Observation Project (ICOP) announced yesterday.
“Astronomical calculations show that Eid ul Fitr will be on the first of October (Wednesday) for majority of countries which started Ramadan on Monday (September 1),” the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted Mohammed Shuwkat, rapporteur of activities at EAS and chairman of the ICOP, as saying.

“As for public institutions, Eid holidays will start on September 28 and end on October 5, a Qatar News Agency report said quoting a circular issued by HE Sheikh Nasser bin Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, the minister of state for cabinet affairs.
The Eid holidays for banks, financial institutions and the Doha Securities Market will be for three days.
The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) will announce the start of the three days’ holiday, the circular said.

Vooruitlopend hebben Diana en ik al een eid-package-offer van Qatar Airways geboekt en gaan voor vijf dagen naar Sri Lanka. Diana heeft maar drie vrije dagen maar omdat een van de drie officiele dagen in het weekend valt is de zondag ook vrij. Kunnen we mooi op woensdag weg en zondag terug.
