Impressive Al Sadd athletic team were crowned as winners of HH Emir Athletics cup championship, as they got big lead in the prestigious event's standings with nine gold medals. Al Rayyan sc successfully captured runners – up position, holds five gold medals with one silver medal different from third – placed, Qatar who also clinched five gold medals.
HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee crowned the winners of 200 m event, as Abdullah Al Zaini, president of Qatar Association of Athletics Federation handed over the prestigious trophy to Al Sadd team. The crowing ceremony was also attended by a number of QAAF officials, Mr. Issa Al Harami, QAAF assistant – secretary general, alongside QAAF board members, Mohammed Sulaiman, Khalifa Abdulmalek, and Saad Muftah.

2.Qatar’s Abdullah Al-Sulaiti and Italian throttleman Matteo Nicolini were the stars of Friday afternoon’s Edox Pole Position qualifying session for Saturday’s Qatar Marine Festival Grand Prix. The crew of Spirit of Qatar 95 set a blistering second lap of 2m 40.68s to claim Pole Position for the opening round of the 2009 UIM-WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championship. The feat was the first for Al-Sulaiti in his short Class 1 career and the fourth for Nicolini.
