The organising committee of the 13th World Indoor Athletics Championship to be staged in Doha in March 2010 held its first meeting last week.
The meeting discussed the competence of the different committees of the championship and latest preparations for the event.
During the meeting, the organising committee developed work plan for the forthcoming stages to execute the required tasks to ensure Qatar’s organisational abilities.
The championship will feature participation of about 1200 athletes.
The Qatar Olympic committee issued the decision of forming the organising committee of the championship to be held in Doha from March 12 to 14, 2010 at the Aspire, academy of sport excellence.
Qatar was awarded the right to host the championship in the voting held in Monaco after the visit of International Association of Athletics Federation to Doha for inspecting the existing sports facilities.
