sizzling hot
The city yesterday witnessed the highest temperature since the beginning of this summer with the mercury shooting up to 48 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorology Department.
The department, however, said that this was normal during May and the worse is yet to come. “The weather becomes hotter by the end of May and the highest temperature in Qatar is experienced during June which can go up to 50 to 51 degrees Celsius. July and August are more humid with lower temperatures,” a forecaster told this newspaper yesterday.
It is expected that there would be no respite from the opressive heat today but the temeprature is likely to fall slightly tomorrow. The expected maximum temperature today also is 48 degrees Celsius while the minimum is likely to be 30 degrees Celsius — one degree higher than yesterday
