Doha • The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday joined worshippers in performing prayer for rain at the open-air court in Al Wajbah, in implementation of the Sunna of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) and to supplicate to Allah for rainfall. The Heir Apparent HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a number of their excellences, the Sheikhs and the Ministers also joined the Emir to perform the prayer for rain.
Dr Sheikh Thaqeel Al Shammeri, judge at the Court of Cassation and member of the Supreme Judicial Council, led the prayer and urged people in his sermon to offer penance, ask Allah’s forgiveness, resort to Allah in time of hardship and in supplication ask insistently for rain in compliance with the Sunna of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The basis of prayer for rain is supplication, asking Allah for forgiveness, he added. Sheikh Thaqeel also said that calamity and catastrophe would not be alleviated except by repentance
