area champion (+update)
On a cold but sunny second day in the SAC, the best performance was produced by Brazilian Luíz Alberto de Araújo (BM&F Bovespa, Sao Paulo), who won the Decathlon with a PB and Championship record of 7944 points. De Araújo, a finalist in the 2006 World Junior Championships, winner of the “2010 Campeonato Iberoamericano” and the first winner from South America in an IAAF Multi Event Challenge namely Deszenzano Multistars 2011, built further on his personal best first day with strong second day results a PB in the Discus Throw (45.97m)and descent pole vaulting (4m60cm).
His 7944 mark moved him to the fourth place on the South American all-time lists and got him closer to second place on the Brazilian all time ranking.
