Al-Motahajiba, a fashion store for Gulf and Arab women, held an open day fashion show in which five of its designers shared their ideas with customers.
The show will become a monthly event, Al-Motahajiba’s assistant marketing manager, Yusuf Llker Karaaslan, told Gulf Times.
He pointed out that the plan was to maintain the store’s conservative line and yet keep pace with changing trends.
Karaaslan noted that the show provided a chance for Al-Motahajiba’s VIP customers to interact directly with the designers to have their dream designs tailored at the store.
He explained that this initiative was to keep pace with the customers’ needs and ideas, noting that the “fashion trends have changed even in abayas”.
The fashion show includes a draw for a QR50,000 voucher. The winner will be able to buy “sheilas” and “abayas” with the prize money.
The customers also had the chance to benefit from the open day’s free beauty services, including makeup tips, manicure, pedicure and mini massage.
Karaaslan said that Al-Motahajiba’s next market development plan was to launch its interactive website.
“Blogs and chat rooms would be soon available on Al-Motahajiba’s website, to make the interactivity more efficient,” he added.
Al-Motahajiba’s Filipino designer Molham Ibrahim told Gulf Times that it was not difficult for a non-Arab designer to create and develop conservative abayas, “which are related to a traditional and conventional culture”.
“The designs conceal but in a fashionable style,” he said
