Qatari Diar withdraws London housing plan, Peninsula.
LONDON: Controversial plans for a modern residential development at the former Chelsea Barracks site in west London have been scrapped by Qatari Diar, the sovereign wealth investor.
There has been fierce opposition to the development over the past two-and-a-half years, most notably from the Prince of Wales, who criticised its modern design.

In an interview with the Financial Times last month, Ghanim bin Saad Al Saad, the head of Qatari Diar, indicated that the company was reviewing the plans for the scheme, which had been designed by Lord Rogers.
Yesterday, Project Blue, the company set up by Qatari Diar to own and develop the site, said it had withdrawn its planning application. ……………… (cut)
